Home Team Minerva Seminar
Formal + Busy Day
Haiz, today is a big day. My first time handle big events. Minerva Seminar, is a talk given by our Guest of Honor 2PS or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yesterday busy busy setting up the chairs, 132 of them. Then today early morning came office to sought out the attendance list. For the MHQ Division 1 Officer, PID Officer, ISD Officer, TMS Officer to sign in. Senior management are also attending. But they are boss, so need not for them to sign in.
My boss will just tick on the attendance sheet. After finalise the attendance list, i take a short water break. Then proceed down to Function room, to set up the signage, Registration table, Mic, Table for Guest Of Honor to sit during Q&A. When i went down it was a great shock i see. two table which i place out, was missing. And there are quite a few more tables which i kept at the back. All of them are missing too only left with a dirty table & a spoiled table.
Screw the Police tower Nsf boys who took my table without asking. So i clean up the dirty table and put it in the front for the speaker to settle down during the Q&A. Then i slowly push the spoiled table out. The table front got a board, and this table the board is slunt sideway. Thats why i said it is spoiled. Registeration table normally have a piece of cloth covering over it. So i took my white cloth and try cover the front up, so people wont see the board dropping down.
While i was doing this, it is already around 10am. And we sent out the mail, informing them registeration start at 10.15am. And Meng Kiat still havnt get down to stay put (He was at gym building his greater body). Janice came, and she told me registeration time has started and where's Meng Kiat? Then i told her i already inform him, should be on the way down. I couldn't be the registrator, because i have to pass the HOD their pass.
Phew finally he show up, then he settle down. Then i procced to the guard house to collect my passes for the HODs & Guest of Honor. After collecting the pass, Janice called me into the room. And ask me how come the laptop still goes into screen-saver mode, which it shouldn't be. Then i say i cant do that as the laptop is MHA's laptop. And all PC and Laptop are set to go to screen saver mode every 10min. Then she added 1 more phase, "you should figure a way out to stop this."
Damn it, it is too late to get NCS to unlock that mode. Blin Blink, and idea came into my head. I remember when i was in clerk course at CDA (Civil Defence Acadamey). The instructor there like to use the freeze mode on the projector. So i quickly get to CPG, and ask for the remote control so i can freeze up the screen. And luckily everything went on smoothly. Then Janice pop out another problem for me. Haiz camera to take photo when PS give the gift to the Guest of Honor.
And i ran up to level 7, to borrow the camera. Haiz so many this and that little things that she miss out during yesterday check. Should have told me earlier and i could have get everything ready. Lucky everything went on smoothly. So this blog will be my reminder for future this type of Seminar. I also know this Seminar is not once a year. It is 3 times a year, April August & December. Haiz means i will get to set up four more times of this type of event. :(
