MHA Outing To Sentosa
Rainy + Sunny Day
It is national day, quite a special day to me. Special? Because I already very long never go to Sentosa, to have fun there. When I was young very young I think during Primary School to Secondary 1 that time. I still have some memories on the underwater world, because I touched Star Fish :p They put a small pond at a side, not real pond lahz. Just that they use a container look like baby bath tub to me : ) Then inside to pond there are some small fishes, plus quite a few star fish in it. You may grab them up if you are not afraid. I remember I grab 1, and feel it : ) so fun.
The latest trip to Sentosa, is not for fun. It is on 28th of May 2005, I volunteer to be a life-guard there for a event (Triathlon Association Of Singapore - New Balance 4th Inter-Collegiate & Schools Aquathlon Challenge 2005). My friend needs one more volunteer lifeguard so he call up for me and go up to help out. Wondering how come I can be a volunteer lifeguard. Because he and I we took our Life Saving 1, 2, 3, CPR and BM Cert together. Before we take the cert together, I already met up with him for 1 or 2 competitions. He always on top of me, I can’t get first for the event with him in : ( means only 2nd for me. And he will grab first, if he get 2nd means I 3rd. Worst if he get 3rd means no trophy for me : (
Let me say 3 paragraphs on the day of my volunteer lifeguard. We were told to report at 9am in the morning. But we two meet up late at Harbor Front (World Trade Centre). Haiz last time take shuttle bus from Tiong Bahru Plaza can go Sentosa already. Now still need to go Harbor Front Interchange and take their shuttle bus from there. The charge is also different already. Last time pay when you board the bus, now you board the shuttle bus then it terminate at the entrance of Sentosa. From there you pay for your ticket, then at the entrance you will take another bus to the location you want. There were 3 lines Bus Routes, Blue, Red and Yellow. I also forgotten which bus I took, I only remember dropping off at Palawan Beach.
We drop off at Palawan Beach, and from there we walk to Tanjong Beach. After reaching there, I notice there is a lot of people setting everything up. We just stand there waiting to be call to get ready. Yawns, So hot day, waited for around 1 n a half hour later. Then the organizer call us up for a briefing by the other organizer. He brief us and the canoeist, we are to watch and give assist if needed, the canoeist is the main rescuer to canoe near to the victim and ask him / her to grab on. The competition starts. Wao those parents of the Primary School, so … didn’t bother about their child life. Just know how to swim in the swimming pool, doesn’t mean can swim pretty well in the sea. They just keep shouting swim go, even if the child is scared of the sea (dare not enter to start their swim).
Seeing such situation, we two decided to go down into the water and swim side by side with the kids. There are so many of them and only 7 canoeist around watching the whole group. So the two of us go into the sea and trap water at the side watching the kids swim for their event. There is two group which we stay in the water watching them swim, the Primary group and the Lower Sec group. After these two event, we patrol on the beach for the whole event, waiting for it to end. After the thing end, I meet up with my swimming buddy, swim with him in the sea for around 6*800m.
Ok come back to the day, we meet up in the morning at around 10am. But you know, not all will reach punctually. When some of them had reached we go for our breakfast, and continue to wait up with the rest of them. It is just the 8th day I been to MHA, so I still only know Des only. The rest came to meet up, I saw them before. But forgotten their names. So when I saw them just say hi only. At around 11am we all reached, then we set off queuing up for the bus, Long long queue.

After boarding the bus, we discover the sky is very dark. Then to out expectation, after we disaboard the bus at Palawan beach, it start to rain heavily. So we wait at the bus shelter there for the rain to be smaller. After around 20min of waiting, it became drizzling. So we walk along Palawan beach, looking for a spot to settle down. Walk ahz walk, after around 10 – 15min walk. We finally decided to settle down right opposite 7 eleven. Because there are 7 eleven around, plus a beach volley ball net and a big area for us to play Frisbee. One sad thing, none of them brought soccer ball or Volley ball. So we played Frisbee. While playing Frisbee, I was waiting for my swimming buddy come to swim with me. He came very early training his swim and run at Tanjong Beach.

Half way through the game I noticed him, then I told them I going swimming. You guys carry on, then I go with him to start our 3*800 swim. Why only 3*? Because he already train from morning 7plus till now 11plus, he don’t want to over train. After our swim I join back with my group and he went home. For the rest of the day, they manage to play soccer with others, and even volley ball with others also, and we did even play on top of the water. Wondering how come is on top of the water. You go Palawan Beach, you will understand what I mean. There is a area they put Big Plastic Float for people to swim over it and climb onto it and settle down there :p around 7 to 9 of us squeeze onto 1 float :)
At around 5plus to 6, we decided to leave. We walk to somewhere to take our bath, not a short walk oh. We walk for around 20 – 40min. Then found a place for us to shower. After out shower we still left with quite a lot of bottles of soft drinks and mineral water. So we decide to have a game give number. Then the lucky one will drink half bottle of any bottle, so wouldn’t waste the water. Then after the whole game only 3 lucky guy didn’t get to drink, wondering am I one of them? Nope, I am the super lucky one. First one to choose my drink :p

So after the game we walk to take a bus out to the entrance there. The bus queue is not long, we easily manage onto the bus. But when we reach the entrance there, WAO ~! we saw a super duper long queue for the bus transporting us out to Inter change. So they decided to walk out, we walked for around 15 – 20min. Then we reach Harbor Front shopping complex, we decided to have our dinner there before we go home. So we have our dinner there, after our dinner they have a small chat at the Taxi Stand there. Then all went back home.
